COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION BETWEEN GRADUATE YOUTH FAMILIES AND OTHER SETTELMENTS FAMILIES IN SOME VILLAGES OF BOSTAN AREA AT BEHAIRA GOVERNORATE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows: - Determining community participation degree between graduate youth families and other settelment families at the research area in the following activities: social relationship activities, economic activities, health activities and educational and cultural activities. - Determining the relationship between the studied independent variables of graduate youth families individuals and community participation degree of their families with other settelment families at the total studied areas. - Ident: fying problem preventing community participation among them and suggestions to get rid of these problems. This research was done on 254 respondents of graduate youth of Bostan area (first stage and second stage) at Behaira governorate. Data were collected using a prepared personal questionnaire during May and June 2016. Data were analysed using tables, repetition, perceatages, average degree, simple correlation coefficient, and chi- square (×2). Findings of the research were as follows: - More than half of respondents (47.2%), their family participation level at total social relation activities with other settelment families was high, but participation level of more than half of respondents (53.1%) at total economic activities with other settelment families was average, around three forth of respondents (72.9%), their participation level at total health activities with other settelment families was high, while more than three fifth of respondents (59.4%), their participation level at total cultural and educational activities with other settelment families was average, and more than half of respondents (54.3%), their participation level with other settelment families was totally average. - Community participation of graduate youth families with other settelment families were affected with the following independents variables: membership in rural social organization, settelment number of years in the village, cultural openness, age, monthly income, educational level, recent occupation, kind of family, wife occupation, and kind of graduation certificate. - The important problems preventing community participation of settelment families with each other were: clashes with neighbours about violation on agricultural roads between tenures of each other, continuous moving of some families and not staying in the village, some families not sticking with the customs and traditions of the village, less conferences and symposiums to educate settelments, and gardens and entertainment places were not available for gathering and spending the sparetime. - The important suggestions to solve problems preventing community participation of graduate youth families with other settelment families were: making gathering and symposiums to know each other, supporting police stations in the area, making security gates and continuous rounds in villages, make gardens and entertainment places available for gathering and spending the sparetime, equity in distributing expanding construction land, and making symposiums and conferences to educate the settelments in villages.
