Planning an extension program for developing olive farmers knowledge in the field of the safe use of agricultural pesticides in Matrouh center, Matrouh governorate

Abstract


The study was carried out to identify olive farmers level of knowledge in terms of the safe use of agricultural pesticides, to determine the relationship between olive farmers' degree of knowledge on the safe use of agricultural pesticides as a subordinate variable and some to of the studied independent variables, to recognize the problems that impede olive growers in the field of using agricultural pesticides safely, and to suggest an extension program for enhancing olive farmers' knowledge on the safe application of agricultural pesticides. The study was conducted in Matrouh Governorate as one of Egypt's governorates in terms of the area grown with olive, in Matrouh Center in particular. Data were collected during November and December 2016, via interviewing 314 respondents of olive growers in the studied villages using questionnaire forms designed for this purpose, the sample was selected in a randomized, systematic way. To present and analyze the data, frequency replicates, the percentage, the mathematical mean, standard deviation and Person's Simple Correlation Coefficient.
